I'm running SRP flat tops which are rated at 11.8:1 with a 58cc head. LT1 heads are somewhere around 55-58cc. I have had no problems running on 93 octane.

I 'm running 11.4 to 1 with a 355 , flat top fed /mogal light weight forged pistons w/4cc relifes, right now I am getting some knock3 or 4 degrees, but I just found out that I have a leakon the intake( oil is getting in from the lifter vally)oil is getting the combustion chamber,I think that is the reason for the knock i'm getting, this should clear it up, and all I ever use is 93 octane, I will post again after the gasket change

your cam selection, weather and timing have an awful lot to do with it

Exactly, you might not get detonation wright away, you have to have the right weather conditions to detonate. But that compression is fine, my friend is running 12:1 on 94 octane, but once we filled up with 89 octane & it ran ok, but I'm sure if we had the wright weather conditions it would of detonated heads are around 50cc.

11.3 to 1 with no problems on 93 octane. No knock at all.

Trey is right (again). The biggest thing is the cam. Static CR isn't the critical variable, it's dynamic CR, which is primarily a function of the intake closing point. There are guys with big solid rollers running 12-12.5:1 on pump premium.

I find I'm agreeing with Trey a lot. Time to get my head shrunk?

Thanks everyone. Me and my buddy just pulled his 94's lt1 one out yesterday. We are doing a full LT4 conversion with a hot cam(not sure the size i would have to ask him). Going to bore it out, once again not sure how much, then puttin in forged pistons and rings, and a new crank.. he wanted me to ask because with that will be his new ratio and well 93 octane is expensive as it is! .. daily driver.

concidering 10.5:1 is stock and uses 91,
I dont think 11.5:1 is a problem on 93 with a more agressive cam

I ran 11.4:1 on 91, MTBE Kalifornian gas at that. Not the best for timing, but got the job done.
