Thanks, My only regrets with the motor is the piston material and the compression ratio. I'm using the KB signature series with an -18cc dish. Compression is a paltry 10:1. I'm building another shortblock with only -7cc pistons and forged. Hopefully it will give me a tenth or two N/A. (with of course head work and a different cam)

the 383 thats being built by golen is set at 12.1 and there was a concern with runnin on 93 octane fuel but once he called up lloyd and he found out my cam specs i was good to go im not sure what time of piston where going with i do know that there srp forged though

First thing you'll notice with the 383 is that the torque hits you no matter what speed you start at.

It sounds like youre building a nice one , especially with the LE stuff.

A guy here locally (Oklahoma) has a 12:1 383 in a lightened Z (I think he's down to 3300). But with Ported stock castings and the GM 847 cam he ran some 11 ohs in 100 degree weather!!!! He later hit some solid High 10s in 50 degree weather !!! All this at 1500 feet.

Well, my goal is 10.99s in my current sleeper trim N/A....Times in my sig were with shorties...Just did an EWP and got 9-10 rwhp and we are installing Kooks stepped LTs and Y-pipe tomorrow...Hoping for 11.20s and then it should get interesting. Race weight is 3350 less driver...If I can get my 60s into the high 1.40s then we may have something...If all else fails we'll stab in a wee bit bigger cam...current cam is a 22X/23X little Joe O....

Me? As far as lightening, no back seat, back seat belts, spare, jack, Harwood hood...Car is a solid roof limited option with cloth seats...Both sway bars, 16x8s all around...I think I could go 10s now if I compromised a little, but I want to roll up looking like a stocker, post a 10 second run and drive on home...Car gets 21 mpg on the highway and can be driven daily with no issues...I'm not sure where you are heading with your post WS...

Re: 10 Sec 383 Possible For Everyday Driver?

i think its possible but not easy as a daily driver maybe with some nitrous. Right now my car is daily driven. I plan on being in the 10s with nitrous.

Oh the final product can be a big difference, in the right hands. The Heads out of the box don't really compare, but port the aftermarket heads and they really begin to shine !!
