1/8 mile track times - what'll it do in the 1/4?
I went to the drag strip for the first time last month and managed to get three runs in. All runs were made at 175* F engine temp, ambient air temp 75* F, high humidity. Didn't have any ice for the intake, which I imagine would have probably helped out a whole lot.

The first run was my best by far even though it's nowhere close to what the car seems to be capable of. Launching this car is a bitch as you can tell from my 60 ft times. I bogged bad on my first run but made up for it by not messing up the rest of the run. I blew the launch on the 2nd run by dumping the clutch at too high an RPM. The launch on the 3rd run was just like the first but I missed 2nd gear this time. My opponent on this run was in an identical car. All he did wrong was spin a lot off the line. He managed to catch up when I missed 2nd, but we crossed the line with my bumper at his fender. Now what I want to know is, judging from these times what is this car capable of in the 1/4 mile driven properly in good weather? I know I need to get my 60 ft times down. Any other advice?

Typical online calculators that are typically...way off when it comes to hp.
I'll estimate my truck weighs 4850...runs times in the sig...dynoed 408 rwhp. Not almost 480 rwhp. Also, two cars weigh the same, run the same, but one has twice the aerodynamic resistance...same rwhp?
The 1/8 to 1/4 chart is for cars that have pretty good traction...typical drag cars. Street cars typically have slower 1/8 times with faster 1/8 mph(bad 60's)..thus giving them a faster 1/4 in relation to the 1/8.

There are some very general "rules of thumb" that say to multiply 1/8-mile ET times 1.56 to get APPROXIMATE 1/4-mile ET. Multiply 1/8-mile MPH by 1.26 to get APPROXIMATE 1/4-mile MPH. If you do that (ignoring the 3rd pass, where you missed a gear):
14.44 @ 100.0
14.78 @ 99.0
15.10 @ 99.2
You are getting decent MPH, but the poor 60-ft times are costing you up to 9/10s, and I would suspect you are shifting it a little too easy.... not hammering the shifts the way you should. I know... that's how I started with my original M6.
A car that can run 100MPH should be able to dip well into the 13's. Get some decent weather, get the 60-fts under 2.00 and bang the shifts, and you'll be into the 13's.
