1.6 SA-RR without new springs OK?
1.6 SA-RR without new springs OK?
Are you flirting with disaster to put 1.6 rockers on a high milage stock cam'd car without changing the springs?
I bought some Proform 1.5 SA because I knew those would be safe but haven't put them in yet because I wanted to make sure I couldn't get away with 1.6's
Thanks

I run the 1.6 on stock springs 111k miles but I do have heads and cam waiting to go in thats why I didnt change the springs.
you can try them and see but if you are not cranking it past 6k I would say you will be fine I am. 8.19 is my fastest NA pass. stock heads cam bottom end.which is a 12.77 in the 1/4

I have 'em on stock springs, and know a couple of other guys with the same without problems. I have heard the same cautions as you but when I have asked, no one ever actually knows anyone whos springs have detonated with this setup. I say go for it, if they let go then it was time for a rebuild anyway now wasnt it...
