whats up everybody . . .i finally got money saved up for a mod. i have 500 bucks . .i was thinking about getting 1.6 rr but wat springs should i get??and heres the other question i was checking out my new summit i got yesterday and it has an lt4 hotcam kit for 500 . . will the cam past california smog??well these are my 2 choices which should i go with??
1=1.6 rr ,springs ,and ss spoiler
or
2=lt4 hotcam kit

which one would you go with if you had 500??

From what I have read about passing the Cal smog with the Hotcam is that you can do it with the right tune. If you have the money I would definitly get the Hotcam kit. You will notice much more gains with the LT4 Hotcam instead of the stock LT1 cam.

I know you can get the Hotcam cheaper from a guy named Jason Cromer. Just search his name....I think he sells them for $475.

It comes with the complete Hotcam kit, springs, RR, and cam. If you plan on doing it yourself then you're going to need about $100 in gaskets and other stuff. Do you have headers?

 

no i dont have headers im going to wait after march to get the jet hot l/t

 

If your working with a tight budget then be prepared. On major mods ( headers, cam, heads) it always ends up a couple hundred more than you plan. Just the unseen little things that make it a challenge.. Even though headers aren't a MAJOR mod they are still a PITA the first time around.

 

Longtubes won't pass smog anywhere.

Considering that you get the springs, cam, and 1.6 RR's in the Hotcam kit. It is a steal for $475 or $500.

Sup man, clear out your PM's. Out of those 2 choices i would go with the hotcam kit. The hotcam is a good cam. But most people say that the springs that come with the kit aren't good enough for it. So you may want to look into getting some better springs. If you can get somebody to pass you with the LT's then don't worry about the emissions from the cam. You will have to get a tune to pass with that cam in cali because of the 112 lsa. If you don't get the cam now and choose to get the SS spoiler, and the 1.6rr's i would go with a bigger cam when you get one. Maybe a 224/230 on a 114lsa(which is what i'm gonna get) or something around those lines. The 114lsa will allow you to pass emissions just incase you can't find somebody to do it for you.
