1.6 RR ?'s
Okay so my springs (if all goes as planned) are going in tomarrow, and while i was taking off the rocker arms tonight a thought passed me....I could save up the 300 bucks and go with the Crane 1.6 gold RR, OR go to my local chevvy dealership and buyt 16 of the LT4 1.6 RR and get the same performance.
Which route should i go???
What are the advantages of getting the Crane. over the GM performance parts RR???? (and are the Crane ones any lighter???)
Are there really any differences between them at all (asides from colour?) I mean after all the Gold anoidized Crane RR were designed to mimic the LT4 RR were they not???Atleast thats what it says in the jegs/summit catolouge as a description for the Crane 1.6 RR.
*Also anyone know the GM parts direct PN for the LT4 RR???(i looked on Shoebox's PN page but couldn't find it)
Thanks!
*EDIT* Also by running a 1.6 RR ratio that'd bump up my lift to like a .544 total, will i have any Piston to Valve clearance issues????

Both crane golds and gmpp 12370839 are made by crane. There is a difference other than color. Slots on top of the "gm" parts were reduced making them stronger and allowing a slightly lower lift than the regular golds.
Sounded like a good deal to me, Ive got the HotCam Kit from Jason going on, Jet hot headers, mufflex y pipe, Spec clutch, and aluminum driveshaft, hope I can tell a difference when I get it back on the road next week.
how about this... dont buy either of them, instead pick yourself up some comp cams rr's and have peace of mind
j/k, personally i love my comp cam's rr's but i have a buddy that has cranes in his car and they seem to do the job
