Question Installing long-tubes...how to get f#@$%'n passenger side in?

Today is day THREE of my JEt-Hot long tube header install. I have the driver's side installed. It was straight forward.

Now to the passenger side. What is the secret handshake/ password/ holy grail/ or whatever to get this F'n thing in!! It won't slide in from the top, and it doesn't seem to want to go in from the bottom either. The Jet-Hot headers are essentially the same as the Hooker long tubes. So, how can I get the passenger side header in? I spent 30 minutes on it!

I'll really appreciate any help I can get. At least I'm saving the $600 estimated install cost by suffering through this myself

Thanks in advance,

Schantin

On mine, I put the car as high as I could. I put some pieces of wood on the floor jack. Jack as high as possible. From under the car, angle the header so that it will get in there enough to be able to put the car back on the stands. Then jack the engine up after unbolting it. Then the header should go in very easily.

the only way to really do it is get the car up really high on blocks. if you dont, it will be pretty much impossible to get in because you wont have the correct angle. the only thing that was blocking mine from getting in, was my tranny. i undid the tranny mount, and jacked up he tranny a little, and the header slid right in...... i had someone else let down the jack as soon as it went in, that way it wouldnt come back out. ive heard some guys have to actually jack up the side of the engine a little bit. its a pain, but it will def. fit in there!!! keep working!

To get mine to go in I first had to take the bolt out of the motor mount, jack the engine up to the side. Remove the starter, remove the alternator take off the passenger side valve cover, and remove the oil dipstick. I'm sure there are a few other things too. After I did all of this stuff I finally got it to slide in from the top. Don't worry all the trouble will be worth it.

I had the car real high, the tranny out, starter off, and the header went right in from the bottom, I had to put a bolt in it to keep it from falling back out on the floor.
Oh dipstick was out and the tranny was out for a rebuild at the time so..........

Here are a few pics on the height I had to get to put the passenger side in. I had it right at 30 inches from the ground to the bottom of the sill behind the front tire. You need this height because the header needs to stand on end to get it started.
I had the starter and the oil dipstick tube out. I didn't have to jack the motor or mess with the trans.
