1.6 Rockers, adj
Well I adjusted the rockers, gm:s 1.6 rr that comes with the hotcam, on the engine cold before I lifted it into the bay. Comps "R" lifters and went with 1/4 past 0 lash.
It idled ok and drove ok, braking engine in so no high revs.
Thought they were cind of noisy so, sounds like an old bmw with bad valves.
I decided to adjust them when I had driven a while and while it was hot/warm. Tried with 1/4 + just a tad bit more.
But now it wont idle, it stops after choking a while. Registrating more knock as well 8° already at Idle. But it sounds real mean.
Did I go to far, set them to 1/8 maybe, or should I preload them even more?
Are they just that noisy...I mean I could here them in the car.
Whats the difference setting them when the engine is cold or hot?
Thanks!

Sounds like you got them too tight. There is a big, long thread about Comp R adjusting. Can't remember if it was the same thread or another, but there was also talk about the effects of heat and expansion.
I have backed my Comp Rs off to about 1 flat of the nut and they actually seem a little quieter (though, it might be my imagination).

Feel like giving up now...
One of the rocker bolts had decided to not stay put and this is the result:

You can see that the retainer has slipped up on the valve "shaft", or what you call it....
So no I've got to compress the spring and see how the track for the retainer looks like...if I'll have to change the valve it's like starting all over again...
I hate this. Why can it just not work from the start.

Just my opion from experience, but I haven't had any luck with 1.6s.
I was told its a cheap and unreleibable way to make a cam bigger,so the best way would be use 1.5s and a bigger cam in the first place.

1/4 past zero lash?
Maybe I'm missing something... but I went 1/2 turn. I have no problems at all. Sure it's a little louder.. but generaly 1.6 RR will be.
I have the feeling I'm missing something though lol
