Well, first off, you need to lose the hotcam.

I agree. But, he may have wanted something that would be very mild on the street, and a hotcam in a 383 would be just that, but still have some good power. There has been a couple guys lately with a hotcam and stock heads making 350ish RWHP, so with heads, you could say around 400, and with more displacement, it could even hit 410 - 420. If I remeber right, GMHTP had their 396 with a CC305 making 420 rwhp. It had some bunk Lingenfelter heads too.

Your mph is bad even for spinning. When i dynoed 351rwhp/340rwtq, I pulled a 2.3 60' and spun til 3rd gear (just before the 1/8 mile mark) and i pulled 83.8mph and 108.8mph by the end. I literally didnt hook until third gear grabbed. I kind of skimmed the post, did you mention your elevation?

I was waiting for your comment Banester. Hey Realquick, I got on it again and still spun a lil to the 8th and I almost clipped it in fact. Theres a cone there in the center lane as a marker.

What would be the best tires, rims to go with. I have the stock 16' laying around.

i would bet money your problem is traction,
i dynoed 356rwhp/349rwtq and ran 14.1 at 105 the same night i had horrible traction 2.4 sixty foot, my traction was similiar to yours
a set of DR or et streets would get you in the 12's.

get a set of 26x10.5x16 for your stock 16x8 wheels. (et streets)
or BFG drag radials 255/50/16

My 60' is about as bad as yours but my times and MPH is better, so I think something is wrong with your car.

Something is not right other than the traction issue. You should trap much higher. Do you have any way to log your runs to see if the pcm is pulling timing because of detonation/knock.

Until you have traction you do not have a baseline from which to work. Get some tires, write down some weather conditions, and see what you have before you try to fix a problem that you cannot quantify.

Im going to agree also that most likely its traction that is giving you a horrible ET and MPH. Because if you claim that you couldnt go WOT with out spining them even after the 60ft, then that makes sense. I dont know why you even bothered to goto the track with your setup without drag radials.

You have a 383, they make much more torque, and build the torue very fast. Plus your runing a bigger converter, which cant be taken advantage of, untill you get a nice set of paws.

Get some nitto 555r's or BFG DR's. Drag radials will really help, you can lower the psi a little bit, and heat them up a little bit. This is going to help you take advantage of your converter, which will allow you to fly right into your powerband. That alone will give the car a big advantage, which should pay off with a nice low 12 second et or better.

You could get et streets, but they will put some serious abuse on your 10 bolt, and will put it to death.

Bah...traction is not the problem. Your mph is low and ****, I have had cars that really had problems, going crazy every time I shifted and the damn things still would pull like crazy on the big end...like 13.5's@118 mph...

What was the weather like?
Where other cars that day running slower than normal?
What are your shift points?
What gas? Picking up knock?
What compression?
What are your flow #'s...bigger valves mean squat.
You gotta baby cam...which again brings up shift points?
What stall?
What fuel psi with those 30 lbs injectors? 39? 43?
Who tuned it?
Who degreed your cam? Straight up?
How much vaccum you getting?

None the less...years ago when I bought my car, on a stock tune, 10.8:1 motor, 377", horrible flowing heads(@.600", 258/168...bah, stock valves), 2800 stall, stock gear and full weight on drag radials...ran 12.205@108.69...and you gotta a lot more motor than I had with that combo...

Traction is not going to change your mph. My stock heads and cam full weight auto pig goes 105mph

I appreciate all the input but you know... the more I think about it the more I wonder. How can there be so many different opinions on this. Half the people say traction.... the other half says "NO WAY". As I thought it over, I know now its traction. For you guys that didn't read the earliers replys and my add ons......I was spinning way after the 60', cut throttle....spun again up to the 1/8th. I really dont see how my MPH could be higher coming off the throttle half way down the track.

As for you CANTON....here goes pal.

high 70's
guys said the track was horrible that night .
car shifts at like 6 to 6.5k (A4)
93 octane with TORCO accelarator 110 oc.
11:1
dunno about flow numbers
2400 stall.
never checked fuel pressure
PCMforless
staright up degree cam
never checked vacuum.

I agree with TNTHUB. In order to get a baseline I gotta get traction first before I can see if I have any other problems.

Aintno6.. I went to the track because my friend was gonna let me his slicks. When I got there he called me pissed and said some guy took them from his shop. Oh well.
