1/4 times with my 383.....sucked.
1/4 times with my 383.....sucked.
K guys.... I finally went to the track tonight with my 383 that I built. I couldn't get ahold of my friends slicks so I used my 2 year old, bald 315's. I real bummed about the times but I know its mostly a traction issue. Before I post it I'll tell ya how the run went. I basically did a roll on to the throttle from little to no RPM's at the line. After I got going way past the 60' I went full throttle and spun the tires. Slacked off the gas then back on again. Here are the results.
Reaction............ .663
60' times........... 2.223
1/8th times....... 9.09
1/8 mph............ 83.02
1/4 mi. times..... 13.814
1/4 MPH............ 105.13
Dunno... you guys tell me whats the problem. There are a lot of different theories on the 60' time but mine is different I know I spin in the 60' but the majority of my spinning comes way after that, when I go WOT. I almost went into the spectator lane.
Thanks for the opinions.

nice meating you man!
well from what i saw, i'd say if you use slicks instead of your bald 315's you would drastically cut your times down. i talked to the guy that owned the corrado you beat on your second pass and he said that he usually runs 12.9's. he said he was having bad traction problems, he was using his street tires, so he couldn't hook up. he was wearing a helmet and did have a roll cage. being that you beat him, while both of you had traction problems, i'd say with traction, your car would be wicked fast. man your car has *****, wanna trade? lol. that was some funny stuff when you were giving the mach1 a butt whooping. gj

what the hell you doing on so late. lol. What a coinceidence meeting like that after these past months on the board. Not only that we were lined up next to each other but that you live a mile from me and will be working with me soon. WTF.
Gimme a buzz later. I'll tell you about your new boss. lol.

Don't worry about it too much. You definitely need to get some good slicks on there! I had a Cutlass that ran 12.70's at 105 mph. 1.82 60 foot times. I'd say you have mid 12's with 1.75 60 foot times in there.
If you do get a good hook I can't see your mph going up more than 1.5 or 2. Still though, if you get good traction with that mph you are in the solid 12s. Try some drag radials if you can, they don't eat up as much power on the big end as slicks do.

Alright, first - disregard any of these "Your trap speed is too low, even if you didn't have traction" posts. That is simply not always the case. First, your car could be a low 12 sec car that can run 115+ traps, but traction is killing it. You don't have to worry about driving skill as much, since its an auto, but you mention a stall in your sig, and if you weren't stalling it up, and then that would hurt you a ton. Example - the other night at the track, I ran on my nittos for the first time, track prep was horrid. First pass was a 14.6 @ 98 w/ 2.3 60'. According to the general consensus on this board, my car is slow for the mods it has. Something is wrong. I better take the motor apart. Well, I hot lapped it, didn't spin quite so bad, and went 13.2 @ 106 with a 2.1 60'. Oh, all fixed now. Another comparison, my friend's 03 Cobra, 20 lb Kenne Bell, dyno'd 574 rwhp, and it went 12.6 @ 115. Damn, cobras suck. No, he just CANNOT drive. He was on BFG DRs too! No burnout, hitting the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, every time he made a pass. I would say take the car to a dyno and tune it before you start making too many passes and get frustrated.
I think traction is hurting you but there may be more than that.
Have you ever had your car on the dyno?
With rhe Hot cam and stock heads in AZ which has a higher elevation I ran High 12's at 105mph with Stock heads.
Who ported your heads? I think you need to get traction first and then you will find out exactly where you are. It's to hard to guess
because you have many variables.

Yea, but were you only at part throttle from launch and then nail it half way down the track and still spin your tires? S.J.S was saying that after the 60’ he was fish tailing on the track, so other course his trap speeds are going to be a lot lower when you have to let off the gas and try to straighten out your car.
