1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
Well guys I ran 14.2 stock with a 2.1 60' What do you guys think I'll run tonight at Dragway 42 with mods in Sig? I have removed the spare and jack. The new tires grip great on the street, so I am hoping for even better launches at the track. I weigh about 170.

The tune was great, I definately felt the car pulling a bit harder. Talk to Madwolf and he'll send you some info on it. He has dyno numbers showing great gains even on stock LT1's.
Only hours away, wish me luck.

275/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. I hook up great on the street, nearly no spin from a stop. I think with good track prep I'll have no problem hooking up. I am looking for 2.0-1.9 60's.

I heard it was way faster than Quaker City Raceway were I got my stock baseline. Grease, Cantonracer, Darkhorse, and SPD2MCH all like it, I figured I'd go take a few runs on it. Plus its from 8pm to 1am so I figure a bit cooler air will help too.

Re: 1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
Well my traction on the street was way better than what I could get at 42. I was pulling 2.2-2.3 60's which needless to say isnt good. I had plenty of lost traction and wheel hop on most runs. On the street I can ease into WOT from a stop and hook up great, but it seemed that the colder temps might have helped my MPH but not my traction by any means. I can no longer chirp my tires on street shifts, but at the track I was chirping them every run. I couldnt keep them from spinning for the life of me.
My best ET was 13.61 and my best MPH was 104.42. I think the MPH shows alot of potential, but because of traction issues the ET didnt reflect it. After talking with a few of the guys I went with everyone seemed to agree low 13's were definately there with an improved 60'. So I think the next few things I need to look into are DR's and LCA's. A 2800 2.5 STR Midwest stall is also coming soon, so I think with that combo I can cut some sub 2.0 60's and plunge into low to 13 flat. I definately need more seat time, this being my second time to a track ever.
Thanks for the optimistic 1/4 times, I dont think they are far off, 13.3 I think is going to be easy to pull once I get some traction. Also a day run with the track being sticky from the sun I think will yeild better times.
I'll let everyone know the Dyno numbers when I go next week.

Re: 1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
Considering this is your second time to the track, I would say that you can make a huge gain by just gettin some more experiance. My times got almost a half a second better from my first time to the track to the fourth or fifth time. You'll figure out little tips and tricks here and there on you own to get your 60' better. Just takes time. BTW, are you preloading? heating the tires up? Check out my times below. I havn't done much to it and I have the same car as you with the same gears. I've only done what's listed. I think it's about my 6'th or 7'th time to the track all together. It was the first with this car.

Re: 1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
I tried preloading or staging the car, but it only spun worse
I agree with you that the biggest thing I need is seat time. Until I met the fellas over in Akron I really had no one to go to the track with so I didnt feel like going much. But now I'll be trying to make it out at least once a week. Actually from my first two runs to my last two runs I shaved off 6 tenths. I was getting used to keeping the spinning under control and learning how to launch a little bit better each time. SPD2MCH shaved 3 tenths off his 60' after his first few runs and he was on street tires with 3.73's and a 3000 stall. I would spin the tires a little to clean the debri off, but not smoking them like crazy.

Re: 1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
try smoking them... it heats em up nice and makes em tacky, plus its really cool!!!!
haha, no seriously. It hleps sooo much. Try it once if you dont want to do it every time just to see what i mean. its amazing how much it helps. if i heat em up i can preload and floor it and it will grap nice with only a small chirp. if i dont heat em, then i will spin all day. it also has to do with track prep too.

Re: 1/4 Mile Stats with new mods
Yea dude... I ran a 13.8 at 104 with a 2.3 60ft... my first time at the track ever. Hopefully I can tackle a 2.1 or 2.0 and nail a 13.3 as well
Bad bad conditions for a noob. 35 degrees out and 3 broken down cars at the starting line (2 on one lane, and 1 on the opposite). Just an overall bad showing by me. But like you said, I think the 104 trap shows a potential 13.3
