1/2 Throttle problem

Well going down the highway and get about 1/2 way down and all the sudden about 3k or so my radar detector resets and the lights dim for a second and the speedometer moves up and down retardedly and the car bucks for a second or so? What can cause this, its obvously an electrical issue i assume. It also does this sometimes in Park when im reving but then after a few times it stops and revs normaly to say 5k if i want to?

You need to start checking and tracing the wires from the battery out. Sounds like a bad or shorted wire somewhere.

Check your serpentine belt for wear, it may be slipping. Also check the weep hole on the water pump for leaks, if so, it will leak onto the belt and cause it to slip reducing current output from the alternator. Somthing else you may want to check is that the tensioner is providing sufficient tension to the belt.

check your grounds under the hood as well, make sure all the nuts are tight and all wires are solid.

I had a similar problem. There is a main ground on the pass side shock tower. Check that first.

Check all grounds in the underhood area, as well as the positive and negative connections on the battery.
Check the plug going to the alternator for proper tension and for corrosion.
What is happening is an electrical "reset" of sorts that can be caused by a loose ground or B+ or a short.
A loose/slipping alternator belt WILL NOT cause this problem....that would cause a GRADUAL degradation of voltage, not a sudden drop-off.

ok so i cleaned the connections at the passenger side on the wheel well. reconnected the battery cables if that was a problem. Went out and putted around town and it reved to 4k with no trouble, so i went to the highway about 30 and stuck it, it went vrm for 1/4 second and shut off then i let off the gas and it started running again? Im going to have to go back and recheck all this, i never had this problem till i had my shop do my cam swap for me.

Ion did the tune, and it runs great as far as idling goes now very minimal surge. No more fouling plugs and stuff. I was just out in the driveway and free reving to 6500rpms and there was no problems, no cutting off or anything retarded. So im going to go down the road and see whats up but outside of the wiring from the battery, ive got no idea it can be anything it looks like.
