.060 over

it turns out i need my block bored again from .040 over. my only option is .060 or to get a new block, which is not an easy thing to find in my area. i am looking for good opinions and if .060 over has actually caused any problems that people have been able to pin point on the overbore. AND, if i do find a new block, will i have to have everything align honed again since i will be using the same rotating assembly that is in my current setup? thanks

Re: .060 over

Won't make .060 over in an LT1 block. Ya might find one that will by sonic checking a truck load of them.
.040 is max according to the factory.

Re: .060 over

I've seen them go .060, but I wouldn't plan on making alot of power without alot of checking and preparation.

Re: .060 over

How about a custom piston going to like .042" over.... it's gotta be cheaper than doing a whole new block

Re: .060 over

the block is bored .040 right now. the machine shop told me they could put the plate on it and hone it straight and hopefully clean it up fully, but he said by the time is was all said and done, it'd be something like .045". the pistons i have in mind are only .015" p to w clearance. that would be an issue. i'm not sure if a .042 could clear it or not....btw, who makes these kinds of custom pistons and how much do they run?
