my LT1 suddenly started make weird noise from left side of the motor. just like cobra head tick. only from driver side head. this happened 2 weeks ago. i got on it once to speed up quickly to 6k RPM and then once it shifted to 2nd gear i let go. i parked and went to work. at night when i started it it, i noticed that bad tick from driver side head. any idea what could that be? also now when i start the car, cranking sound kinda got louder, almost like something rubbing. i have to get that tick thing fixed but not sure what it is. do u think driver side head is messed up? or motor on its way to blow up?

by the way, just checked and relaized the car has absolutely "0" even below zero oil pressure! what should I do guys?

Not good. That's a spun rod bearing. Which = rebuild time. Sorry man..

 

the car is not worth to rebuild. she is still running. i dont mind if she performs not good, as long as she runs for a few more months, i am ok. is there any way to get her run for a while at least? (might be a dumb question but gotta ask)

If you have "0" oil pressure. It won't run for much longer. 15 mins. if your lucky. I highly suggest not driving it anymore.

Well good luck. Just keep the RPM's as low as possible. No higher than 2500. But with "0" oil pressure. I'm betting you won't make it. Towing it would be best, but if you have to drive it. As least have a friend follow you home..

 

thanks man! I will call wife to come to follow me. maybe once i part her oput, i will be able to get like 1500 out of her total to feel better. i rebuilt that tranny 7k miles ago

 

if the body is in good shape you could get more than 1500.00.people are always looking for a good body to put a motor in.try ebay ive seen firebirds with bad motors going for over 2000.00

 

That sucks, I'm sorry man. Do you have stock exhaust?
