0 oil pressure

I was just wondering if there is any other history of this with you all. I was idling at a red like when my oil pressure guage dropped to 0. i have a mechanical guage to which also read 0.The pump is a Melling high volume that has about 9,000 miles on it from the re-build. its prob the pump just took a **** on me but I was just seeing if anyone has ever had that bolt(pin) break or anything like that.thanks.

Re: 0 oil pressure

Not uncommon for the pickup to detach from the oil pump and fall down into the oil pan.

Setting still if ya had no pickup it wouldn't matter ya would still have pressure if it was full of oil.Sounds like ya chewed up the oil pump drive gear that runs off of the cam or the plastic broke and spit the gear out.

Chevy dealer or junk yard. I wouldn't put a used one in it. They are about 25.00. Are ya sure your cam didn't call for a bronze gear?

If the gear turns out to be the issue,I would check before putting in a stock gear.

Ya have to get one for the smaller dia of the plastic oil drive. Comp,MSD,Crower one should have one if needed. I wouldn't run one unless it's needed.

turned out to be the dummy gear where a normal distrib. would be. it was grinded all the way down.

Re: 0 oil pressure

Well your cam is most likely gone too. Pull it and see, then get the right gear for the next cam if it's a replacement cam
