***Ai 383R long block with TFS 215 heads goes 9.6@139.9mph NA ***
Looks like Rick Abare and Ai are raising the bar again. Rick has run his most recent NATURALLY ASPIRATED Ai crate engine to 9.6X @ 139.9mph! These times were run in +1400 to +2200ft DA at 34XX pounds.
Time slip
VIDEO - 9.7 Pass
Slow Motion Video (that would make me pucker if I was driving)
Video of the car getting crazy
Further information on the runs and engine
These passes were made with an Ai 383R crate engine topped with Ai ported TFS 215's and a ported single plane manifold. Compression is a street friendly 11.X:1 and this motor ran on 93 octane for its mid 9 second runs. In running a 9.6 NA quarter mile, Rick has pushed his street friendly motor into the spot of the second fastest NA LT1. The times should fall as the weather and car fall into line, but the passes are proof of what hard work and THE BEST parts are capable of.
Before you post "It's not a street car" please consider:
Stickers, wheelie bars and a cage are for competition and safety, they don't affect driveability or the engine. This engine/cam has around 10 degrees LESS duration intake and exhaust than his last one. The cam is NOT big for a 383 of this caliber. This motor runs on pump gas and is under 12:1 compression. This car is not gutted, stripped or hobbled together like so many other fast cars.
If you are going to compare it to another car or the fastest NA LT1, consider that Joe Overton ran 9.4 @142 with lots of compression (13/14:1), very light weight (well under 3,000 lbs), and converted heads.
Congratulations to Rick and I can't wait to see these times drop.

Very impressive!
I wouldn't call a solid roller setup and 4.30 gears "street", but still. That's flying in a 3470lbs car.
I love the nose-in-the-air shot on AI's site.
On a 4L60E and 9" as well ... very nice.

I updated my post with some additional videos that some might not have seen. I also updated some of the numbers and info that I typo'd on.
I agree with many of you that this is not a car my grandmother would drive to get coffee, but you must compare apples to apples. It is far closer to a street car than MANY if not all of the cars that run similar numbers.

Since when did disclosing correct info go out of style.....
I'm not trying to take anything away from the impressive combo they have put together.

lol, so is your cam 109 or 109.7 LSA? Should it be considered 110 LSA...and should it matter? Nope, and none of it has anything to do with your perceptions of my allegiances, or my perceptions of yours
Recognizing info that's important is far more crucial than nit-picking info that doesn't matter, but that would assume you know the difference too.

I was merely pointing out that there was an inaccuracy in the compression # and
all of a sudden static compression doesn't matter anymore.
Kudos to the OP for admitting to having committed a typo rather than trying to say
static compression doesn't matter.
You guys make AI look bad with your constant trolling for an interweb fight.
I think they have a fine product and wouldn't hesitate to run them on my car.

Not sure why he wanted to run 93 octane, id imagin the cam is entirely to big for street use.
