3.42 rearend = $100
Stall = 500-900 NEW 400 used easy.
Cam/heads 2k

There's your $2500. Save up another $150 for a mail tune and you have an 11 second car if you can hook (which you won't be able to.)

soooo.....the headers i was thinking would be rather pricey cuz i want to get long tubes for sure but my car came with dual cats so i would have to have the rest of the exhaust fabricated....or is there a significant power difference between the shorties and the long tubes (ive never used shorties). Ultimately i would like to use the long tube and ditch the cats altogether, but somehow keeping the car emissions legal once a year for the smog test...or is this even possible? maybe swapping out the exhaust once a year? Sorry think i got off track there for a sec.

And the mods listed above will set you up for a heads/cam swap next tax season .

Shhhh - If you go with LT's and can find an inspection "friend" you can get past smog. Shhhhh. Because headers are a real PITA to install and you wouldn't want to have to do a header job 2x a year.

The mods listed above should be good for high to mid 12s.

You guys are awesome, im really diggin all the suggestions
ok so you guys are talking about a head swap? What heads exactly should i put on? I wasnt really aware of any aftermarket heads except for the AFR and Edelbrock which im not sure would be a huge improvement, thinking of really getting the stock heads ported or is that a bad idea?
For the cam it seems the obvious choice would be the LT4 hot cam kit from chevrolet but i seem to be in the dark somewhat about the heads.

they are talking about porting your stock heads, and the lt4 kit isn't worth the trouble. your better off with a cc305.
