I did 130 another time and again it was a bit unnerving for me. 120 don't scare me much but anything over 125 and I want to start slowing down asap. Part of it is the idea of getting caught but also the mental image of the jaws of life ripping my car apart to find what is left of me inside.

For the most part I keep it under 85 unless I'm at the track. I have opened it up a few times so I can say I did it. No point in further risking my life now. I never street race so there is no need to go over 85 anyway.

Very true. Getting to tell your friends you c an get to 160mph has it's bragging rights though. Lots of these new 4 bangers have 140-150 speedos and can't get much past half way on them.

At least you know what speed spookes ya. I personally prefer higher speeds though. I havent found my spook speed yet.. been 160 and wanting more and I hold it until I run out of road.

I never run that fast with bald tires and I always make sure the car is ready for it.. as much as possible.

i've had my'n to like 115 once or twice, my dad had her to 130 so i know it doesent have that limiter at 118 or w/e...she was still pullin good even with the 2.73's in her, there are plenty of highways here that are good for 150+, but if i ever got pulled for anything over 100...there goes my car, i'm not really sure what my parents would say..it would be interesting..after it was all said and done with, they would probably decide that at my age i'm not responsible enough to drive a car like this, and there gonna sell it, and i can ride my goped from now on ...not worth it to me..one day though..i'll see what she can really do, just for piece of mind

hey..robvas..and anyone else with the 2.73's...does the car have to shift to OverDrive to hit 150? or does it stay in 3rd gear the whole time? if it does..what are the revs at around 150? is that all she had in her? or do you think the 2.73's are capable of hittin the 163 limiter stock? Sorry for the questions....right now i just cant risk gettin caught..but yet i'm dying to find out what she can do stock...when the day finally comes, i'll be sure to post about it

here's an easy way to lower your spook speed.. imagine what happens if the slightest thing goes wrong at 160 mph.. Blown tire, unknown pothole, animal crossing, mechanical failure... etc..

If you lose the slightest bit control, chances are it'll get magnified at speed and you totally lose control, which at 160 mph in a street car on public roads is pretty much a guaranteed death. or major lifelong disabilties..

125mph was almost enough for me in my 142k 13yr old stock suspensioned car...

Anyway, my buddies tell me a non-limited LS1 car will do 165.

I wonder why the hell all of you guys don't have troubles getting to 160 in a stock LS1

I must be doing something wrong. My car will pull pretty good up to 130 but then slows down. By the time it hits 140, it's about 1mph/sec. Fastest I could get her is 145.

Now that's with a lid/filter, muffler, and free mods. I even hit 145 with the stock tires/rims. Even after my wide 11" rims I can still hit 145, but not much more.

What would prevent me from going faster? You'd think my ram air would help out a little bit at higher speeds

ram airs are myths right?
i heard that they will eventually ram air but not until you're at like 180 or 200mph or somethin
so basically, the only advantage to the ram air is cold ambient air from outside, and up til it starts working, it's just a drag on aerodynamics
and then by the time it does work, it negates the function of it because it is so un-aerodynamic (if that's a word)
but in any case, i'm not sure why you wouldn't get past 145

No, not necessarily a myth. Not on the 'Birds anyway. I heard it's supposed to help at 100+. It's DEFINATELY not 180 plus, because aerodynamics have more to do with power then, and like you said, it'd almost hurt more.

But yeah, I don't know why either. Maybe something's catching too much air and having a parachute effect?

120 is nothing, just cause it gets there that fast 8']

but yea, i hit 100 pretty good amount of time in LONG cruises.. goiong 130+ isnt worth the damage it can cause...

i feel safe at 100-115
