Re: Y-pipe
a y-pipe is one of the many good, fairly low-cost... must be done... mods to get out of the way before attacking larger things...
a strut tower brace... is iffy imo... if your going all out to try and stiffen up the car... it would help and you can get them for like $80... subframe connectors will really be a vast, noticable improvement... but are not going to be nearly as inexpensive.

I am not too sure. If it does throw a light then 02 simms are always the answer. The good thing about those pipes are that when it comes time for emissions you can unbolt them and throw the cats back on with ease.

Re: Y-pipe
hmm dilemma... i'd like a higher note for just around town... but im in and out of my very tight, very large, pretty nice neighborhood at all hours of the night... so just starting up my car with the ws6 exhaust is enough to make me worry.... im gonna change y-pipes just to get rid of that stupid rusty flat thing. but for the track... i'll just keep taking the exhaust off... including the cats

Re: Y-pipe
yes... for the c5
the c5 has the ls6
don't mistake it for the zo6 c6 tho when it comes out...
thats got the ls7
i believe all 01 and 02 f-bod ls1's already came with the ls6 intake
i think you could probably get better gains elsewhere for the money tho since your low on mods... like me (just getting started with this car)

Re: Y-pipe
In this order: (including ones i already have installed/purchased)
Intake (free hood mods/box/filter)
manifold-back exhaust (including dual cutouts)
Free mods - hood, tb bypass, sensor sims, thermostat, manual fans
ET streets
pulley/possibly electric a/c
3200 stall converter & tranny cooler
shift kit
dyno tune
headers
throttle body
front brake upgrade
subframe connectors/bracing bars/torque arm.
suspension - looking for tightness and about 1.5 inch drop...
cam
injectors
ported heads
again, dyno tune
then some kind of forced induction down the road... also.. include a new rearend and built tranny in there as soon as the stockers fail
most of this may never happen... cause i don't plan on being able to keep the car in the army.
but thats about how i'd do it
im sure i left out little stuff

Re: Y-pipe
The converter will give you ~.5 sec quicker track times. Every A4 guy I've known when they look back after modding, have said that they would have done the converter before other mods like exhaust etc. It makes the A4 a whole different beast. Just get a trans cooler while you're at it.
Frmula, I would highly suggest moving the SFC's up on your priority list. The Earlier you get them on, the less rattles, squeaks, and misaligned parts you'll have down the road, especially since running ET streets. You can get waves in your rear 1/4 panels w/out them. Also make sure you have a budget set aside for a new rear end with those tires. You may never need it, but it is only a 7.5" rear.
The flat piece of the factory Y IS NOT RESTRICTIVE. It has the same crossectional area as a round pipe. That is oval tubing, like what they use in NASCAR only a smaller diameter. Do a search on LS1tech. If you are ever going to get headers or dual exhaust, don't waste your $ on a Y unless you plan on keeping the factory manifolds.

Scroll down to the Y-pipe section.
I suggest going over to LS1tech and reading all the newbie mod threads. They'll be at the top, orange, and stickied.

Re: Y-pipe
i agree with G4S
the ypipe is pretty useless and a waste of money.
i put a full 3" offroad ypipe on my 99 and noticed nothing other than increased sound.
the STB is a decent mod to keep the nose tightened up, and SFC are really good for making the car feel rock solid.
