Y-pipe

Just bought my car 2 weeks ago and was wondering if an off-road y-pipe would be worthwhile. It looks like the car has had mods but most bolt-on stuff was removed before it was sold. So far the only stuff I know it has are the hooker st headers(C.A.R.B. legal) and a detroit locker diff. I will be purchasing a high flow air cleaner lid and K&n filter, and a magnaflow catback too. The car already has O2 simms, and there is no emmision testing in my state either. My question is will I be gaining noticable HP and how mych louder will the exhaust be without cats? Reason I ask is becaust I don't really like that wide open exhaust sound. Should I get a different catback system if I get a y-pipe? Or am I better off waiting untill I have more HP?

Yes there would be good gains in flow if your thinking of a 3" ORP

The Magnaflow system is the quietest at idle does gets mouthy high performance sound at WOT,on freeway very tolerable quiet rumble and is one of the least restictive/most performance systems available asides from the Loudmouth(Loud). Magnaflow would be the one you want to benifit from the ORP quieter wise.Cuz to get a ORP and put a more restictive quieter exhaust on it. What benifit would there be gettin ORP(little)?Self defeating. Since you dont like WOT riot,I dont know what to tell ya,you'll get that from them all anyway w/that pipe, but the Magnaflow is for the performance w/o rapein yer wallet.

IMO,No b/c you dont have emissions ripp that Cat. pipe off there and go w/ Magnaflow Performance.

Ya no cats will make it run better, and give it a more throaty rumble. Also id go with a holley filter over a k&n

Thx for the input, but it looks like I'll be saving my $ for another mod.
Can't seem to find an off-road pipe that didn't have to be connected to lt headers .

Maybe instead I should get nitrous .

Look some more. They are out there.
Check Thunderracing and some of the other site vendors.
When I was looking for one for the 00 (cast manifolds) all I could find were ones for the 98-99s except for Bassani they had one for the 00-02s. Mac, SLP I think.
