X1 (MTI) or TR230 cam (ThunderRacing)
Re: X1 (MTI) or TR230 cam (ThunderRacing)
Thunder Racing Custom "Reverse Split" Camshaft - 230/224 .575/.563 111 LS
or
MTI X1 - 230/227 .591"/.571" 112LS
in case anyone wanted the specs
i think both will yield the aproximate same power. with the X1 making slightly more possibly. both will idle pretty rough with the low lobe separation.
i see the TR cams are on sale...but hurry

Re: X1 (MTI) or TR230 cam (ThunderRacing)
out of those 2 id go X1 also........however Futral Motorsports has been making some killer power with there cams. Check theres out....something like a FM12 or FM13. Guys with the FM14 have made over 400 RWHP cam only

If we're just voting, I say the TR230 reverse split. If I were buying a replacement cam for my car, that's the one I'd get. The differences between them are subtle. I like that the TR230 is on a 111LCA, but the other is only 1 degree wider so we're probably not talking much real world power differences. I'd lean toward one of the TR cams as so much dyno time goes into their developement. The reverse split cam, the TRex, the cheaTR cam etc.

I'd go TR230, in fact I just did
Very driveable even on a stock tune, just got to be easy at low rpm, pay attention to what the motor tells you in terms of stalling. Runs pretty strong on my TSP mail order tune, I'm sure a dyno tune would pick up hp and make it a kitten in rush hour. I have no idea what it dynos but with the following mods it went 11.5@120.3 on stock heads with a da of about 700ft and a 1.72 60ft. lid/ported maf/ported tb/hooker LTs/3" y-pipe/3" exhaust w/ race magnum muffler/Strange 12 bolt with 4.11s. Race weight right about 3500lbs. I just sealed my airbox BGRA style, bought a Pro-Shifted T56 from Harlan, and I would like to add a NW/Fast 90 combo. I also need skinnies and a line lock. With good weather I might see 10s. Oh BTW it's an '02 WS6 so it already has the LS6 intake. I don't think you would go wrong with either cam or a Futral, but I really like TRs customer service.
