WS6 VS STD (year 2000)
Yeah, a sexually transmitted disease? Talk to Dr. Phil.
I can guess what you are talking about...A Trans Am versus a Trans Am WS6? I've never heard anyone refer to a Trans Am as an STD..the difference is ram air and a slightly better flowing exhaust..it all adds up to very little..they're both just as fast.

The Ws-6 can be optioned up with some better suspension and more power. Won't be drastically faster though. I like the fact that you get the better 17in wheels and 275/40 tire. Depends on the car. A factory freak formula may stomp on a Ws-6 made on friday or monday
The WS6 did not have an optional suspenion in 2000, or any other year. WS6 built from '96-11/99 (includes early 2000 models) had most of the 1LE suspenion, except for the front LCA's and Koni shocks. This included the springs, front sway bar, rear LCA's, PHB and trans mount. 2000+ WS6 have the same suspension as a base Z28 save for the 32mm "1LE" front sway bar. They all have the power steering cooler standard.
The also had the hood and airbox, exhaust, 17" wheels and tires.
How much faster they are is highly contested, but in years of racing I have never seen an ounce of proof that the SS/WS6 are any faster. I think that the benefits of the better exhaust are canceled by the heavier wheel/tire combo, and that the "Ram Air" is not "Ram Air" since it is not sealed. I think that it is possible for the WS6 to make a little extra power at extremely high speeds from cold air, but that is probably canceled by the additional aerodynamic drag from the vertical surface that makes up the ram air hood.
That being said, the WS6 option ultimately will not cost you much if anything, since you will typically get what you paid for it (compared to buying a base car) back when you sell it. The cars depreciate about the same, but that $3000 option seems to hold its value. If you like it, but it!
Just my opinion.
FWIW, my flat hood 2001 ran 12.97@108.4 with the only mod being 17" Firehawk wheels and Nitto 555RII road race tires on all four corners.
