After I get my stupid window motor replaced I have a match lined up in the next 3 months against an 89 Gt Mustang with the 5.0. It has full exhaust, a short throw, a 50 shot of nitrous, and he is getting a blower with 6 #'s of boost. It is also a 5 speed and the guy is a good driver. My mods are in the sig and I plan on geting the ftra soon. What else should I get to keep up and hopefully beat this guy. I was thinking about a cam. I havent the slightest clue about cams though. I need help!!

 

you should beat him stock with some drag radials

 

I'd get a Nitrous kit and spray a 100 shot.

 

you can beat him now. You might need a little more power if he gets a blower, but only a little more.

 

I had no idea the ls1 was that fast!!!! I feel better now. I haven't gotten to race anybody yet because everyone is scared of me where I live. My old lt1 would get beat every now and then. I guess ls1's are a whole new ball game!!!! LS1

I say get a full exhaust, a short throw, a 50 shot of nitrous, and a blower with 6 #'s of boost. That ought to do it. But if you're still worried throw in heads, cam and long tube headers with an off road Y pipe. You could work the clutch with your right foot, push on the gas with a broom handle and still be able to hang your left foot out the window and flick him off with your toes when you go by.

The toe thing will take some practice.

 

if i were you i'de get some wider/better tires and a 100 shot of nitrous just incase untill you could do more. now those 5.0's i believe were lucky if they'd have 200rwhp stock. so without his nos i'd bet money on you winning even with him having the blower. but with the 50shot of nos i think he might just pull ahead alittle bit so thats where you having nos would come into play.
