Re: Worth it? header swap

Yes cutouts would make it louder.....but would it sound as good?

But anyway, i'm ditchin this idea....just gonna go get a tune for now....is the Hypertech Power Programmer a good idea? I can get a new one for 2 hundred...$50 more than the Speed Inc. Basic Tune...but would i be able to do the same stuff they'd do in that basic tune?

Here's whats included in their tune....
GM Basic Tune
LS2/LS1/LT1 "Basic tune" Includes the following:
-Desired fan activation temp (for low temp t-stats)
-Torque management removal (a must for LS1 automatic cars with aftermarket converter)
-Rear O2 sensor codes deleted (for cat-delete cars)
-Speedo calibration (for gear and tire height changes)
-Desired idle speed (for "lopey" cams)
-Skip shift function delete
-Shift points optimized
-Injector size changes

So am i better off in this case spendin the extra $50 and gettin the programmer?

I wouldn't say that. But they will not delete any codes or remove torque managment. These things take custom tuning.

custom tunes are leaps and bounds ahead of any tune a handheld can give you.

check out www.madz28.com for tuning prices too. Ion does good work, and is a member here...aka Madwolf

Not every handheld, with a Diablo Sport Predator you can have both. It's a handheld that scans, checks DTCs, resets DTCs, programs, and can recieve a custom tune from your vendor via e-mail so there's no sending PCMs all over the country.
The advantage being that even after your mail order tune you can still tweak timing, fuel inrichment, and all the stuff a regular hand held can by yourself at the track. Or if you make a major change then get another e-mail tune.

Not all handhelds are created equally.
