Winter rims and tires

If everything goes right, I'm only gona need to drive my camaro in one winter. But I want that winter to be as safe as possible. In MI the winters get pretty bad, not the worst, but bad enough. I've searched this forum but didn't really find the answers I was looking for.

My first question is about snow tires. Every time someone mentioned one type they said it was great, then the next guy comes along and says what he bought was great. They can't all be great. I've heard great things about Blizzak tires so I'll probably get a set of those since winter tires is their specialty. But they offer more than one type of tire, can anyone recomend a good snow tire that they use? Pro's and con's instead of they worked great. Thanks

Also, in the snow, wider isn't better. Should I get a thiner rim like from v6 f-bodys or maybe a s10? Or will a good snow tire make up for it? Thanks.
