Why doesn't anyone use these???

Randonm Tech or Hooker Catback? Are the more restictive than the others? Does anyone have any flow numbers? Between the two which one is the least restrictive?

ALOT of people use the hooker....its one of the most recommended budget catbacks.

inexpensive, decent flow and most agree the sound is good even with no cats. it tends to get mentioned that it rusts faster due to material...but i have no first hand knwledge of this

Random came in late. Just didn't get popular. There are other very good catbacks that never got real popular.

The Hooker is a rather popular budget system, and it actually has a good note to it.

The random tech I have never heard on a car, nor have we ever sold. I guess you could say, I go with what I know and trust. Not that the random is bad, but there are many other proven choices that we use instead.

I personally like the sound of the Magnaflow cat-back systems.

A friend only gained 5 rwhp on a 550rwhp car when he took off his 3" aerochamber catback on the dyno.

This was a stroker LT1 car with a t-trim.

When you talk about rust on a non stainless steel set up, how long is the life span? In particular Europe and the southenr part of the US?

I had aluminized in my 70 SS that lasted for over 12 years mostly spent in the Houston, TX area. This was driving almost daily.

It all depends on how much you drive and in what conditions. The less expensive stainless systems will corrode in the right environment also.

the issues with Stainless isnt the corrosion but the fatigue.. Heat will fatigue the metal and it will litterally drop off the car..

Stainless rusts too. Just take it through a couple real winters and you will see thats a fact.

Hooker is popular, random tech isn't. People usually go with names they know and Hooker is a very well known name. I use one and like it, only lose 3 hp through the muffler (dynoed with cut out open and closed)
