Why am i losing oil?

ever since i bought my ls1 SS (with 20k miles on it) It has the tendancy to lose about 1-2 quarts of oil between every 3k miles. However there are absolutely no leaks anywhere, and no smoking. There is also no buildup of any oily substance on my back bumper that could be coming out the exhaust.

The engine runs like new, with great oil pressure.

Any suggestions??

This is typical, even more so with 01-02 models.

Re: Why am i losing oil?

What oil do you use? And yes it's normal. I changed oils and oil filter and don't have to put oil in between oil changes. But I do put in 6 quarts and i know the ls1 takes 5 and 1/2. By the why I switch to regular 5-30 valvolien the white bottle. And so far I haven't had to add oil. You can also get an oil anaylisis.

Re: Why am i losing oil?

Is that full on the stick prior to cranking your engine and getting oil into the new filter?

Re: Why am i losing oil?

Try using 5W-30, that's what GM recommends in the instruction manual.
