Whats that on top of my Header?

Newbie question, What is the hose that connects to the top and fwd of my stock headers? I have a 02 Z so I wouldn't imagine it being EGR. Can someone please tell me what it is and if I need it when I order some JetHot LT's and can I remove it when I get LT's.

Thanks,
Travis

Thats your A.I.R. fitting. Connects to your air pump, pumps air into your headers...no reason to get rid of them really. It's emissions equipment so I wouldn't mess with it unless you don't have emissions

other than the tubes looking ugly in the bay....

and like some of us have experienced...when the electronic pump goes out...it makes annoying sounds on startup

Do these take away HP and does anyone know if Jet-Hots come with AIR fittings? I'm not in an area that requires emissions so if I wanted to get rid of it how do I do it? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

Thanks

not sure if the JHs come with or without emissions.

if they don't all you do is remove all the hoses, one from each side, and the hose running down behind the driverside headlight. the pump is located in there. i think you remove the headlight assembley and just remove the pump. or you could just leave it there, remove the hoses going to it and pull the fuse so it doesn't get power.

if the JHs do come with the fittings, you will need some block off plates (available through www.thunderracing.com for $18pr). just block the fittings off and remove the rest as stated above.

doing this will throw an SES light. you will need to have it programed out.
removing it DOES NOT affect hp at all, but i do think it will make your cats burn out faster...but you will probably not have any regardless...

on the same note-
having it hooked up and running doesn't cost you any hp either, it is more of a visual mod and a way to remove some clutter and weight off the car.

Thanks for the info! Since there is no one around me for 3000 miles with LS1Edit or anything like that, I think I will just go with the fittings!

Is it safe to leave the Air fitting's where the hose goes down on them open? or will these leak air?
