Question Whats with my oil pressure ???

For the last month and a half my oil pressure has stayed half way between 40 and the next mark. Today for some reason it has stayed a liitle past the mark right before 80. What gives ?? It does not drop down unless I'm in sixth gear. Should I be wary ? I know jack about this car, but a lot more than I did even a week ago b/c of you guys. Help !!

I'm no mechanic, so I don't know what could cause that, but it sounds like somethign needs to be fixed. It might be something as simple as a new oil pressure sending unit.

Was it colder that day? Pressure is resistance to flow so if it's colder you'll get more pressure.

Our LS1 manuals say that our oil pressure can fluctuate between 6 psi when idling to 80 psi and it is still considered normal.

sending unit

that sounds like a sending unit and I would take it to GM, it is not that expensive and from what I found out thru this site and when mine went it is somewhat common..
