What it takes ls1 to break into 12s.

Previous owner of my t/a ran a 13.4, he said that was his only time at track and he wasn't experienced so there is room for improvement.

Car is a 2002 t/a m6 w/ 3.42's. 275 street tires.
Dynomouth exhaust, lid, slp maf, smooth bellows, slp bilstein/eibach suspension, 1le swaybars if that matters.

The track is still closed so I am practicing a little technique right now so I will be decent. I have a little track experience.

I will do some basic weight reductions, tb bypass, I have tubular lcas and phb to install soon.

Is it possible to break into 12s with this setup or will i have to get Long Tubes, ORY, and tuning?

Its possible to hit a high 12 with that setup, drag radials will make it even more likely.

The MAF is about worthless. No major power gain there. But that car is 12.5 something capable, bone stock w/ a good driver. I'd say the better tires and maybe an exhaust.. A set of LCA's would help too! Ehh...throw in a lid and filter too....

GMHTP Magazine tested a stock 02 SS and it did well... look it up..

Re: What it takes ls1 to break into 12s.

you can prolly break into the 12s stock with some et streets. i know a guy from down here who is 13.03 with et streets, no exhaust muffler, and a K&N

he was launching from 5k and his 10 bolt was fine

All you need is some Nitto Drag Radials and you'll be well into the 12s with that setup as long as you can drive.

I ran a 13.1 with lid, catback,FRA @109 MPH on street tires nursing it off the line with 2.3 60's.

With your mods 12's should be easy

Actually when I was pulling 13.1's I wasnt a good driver. I was a novice hence the horrid sixties. If I was a good driver I would have easily hit 12's with those traps.
Although I have advanced.

Re: What it takes ls1 to break into 12s.

It all depends on the driver and traction at your point. Friend of mine went 12.80's at 109. Stock except lid/ muffler. Auto.

If your clutch can handle sticky tires you could go 12's right now.
