You would probably find the answer quicker on the LS1 Engine Tech forum. There is nothing equivalent on the earlier engines.

I took mine off over a year ago when installing a catch-can, and it didn't affect anything that I'm aware of .

I heard it just for keeping the pcv from freezing in freezing temps. Took mine off after it caused a vacuum leak. Don't need it here in Southern Ca.

broke mine off.

I broke mine off during my H+C swap. It doesn't affect anything...If you notice, it goes around plastic, so it really doesnt ground anything.

If you have a factory PCV valve it's steel and the strap goes around the valve itself so it definitely grounds the valve.

It's actually a heat synch to keep condensation from freezing the valve.

After chasing my high-rev-gremlin, i discovered that this ground was also causing my vacuum leak. The metal piece that attaches to the rubber boot around that pcv valve, was sort of slicing the boot open. I discovered this after fiddling around the boot and feeling some oil oozing out of the spot where the metal connects to the boot. I just slid it out and unbolted it. Then wrapped the boot with some rubber tabe. No more Vacuum leak.

Thank goodness for this forum. I was worried about having removed it. Not anymore.
