Synerlec® additive technology -- Beyond Synthetic™
Synerlec® additive technology is Royal Purple's most versatile additive technology and the cornerstone of its product line. Royal Purple's oils for turbines, pumps, compressors, blowers, hydraulics, gears, refrigeration systems, motor oils and more contain Synerlec®. It forms a tough, ionic, slippery, chemical film on all metal surfaces. This film helps to separate metal surfaces in three ways;
I. Synerlec® Provides a Thicker Oil Film.
By forming a chemical film on metal surfaces, Synerlec® adds to the oil film thickness created by the oil viscosity alone.
An increase in oil film thickness is proven to increase bearing life in direct proportion to the percentage increase.
II. Synerlec® Creates a Tougher Oil Film
The tough oil film on metal surfaces makes a breach of the oil film much more difficult and unlikely. By preventing metal-to-metal contact, Synerlec® enables equipment to operate normally under severe operating conditions where it would otherwise quickly fail.
Synerlec's ability to carry up to 700 percent greater loads than other mineral and synthetic oils provides extra protection for bearings subjected to mechanical stresses caused by misalignment, shaft flex, imbalance, water contamination or elevated temperatures, which thin the oil.
III. Synerlec® Micro-Polishes Contacting Metal Surfaces
When opposing asperities (microscopic projections on tmetal surfaces) breach the oil film of competitors' oils, surface initiated fatigue occurs, which causes bearing surfaces to quickly wear and become rougher.
Vibrations steadily increase because these rough surfaces can no longer be fully separated by the thin film of the oil, causing increased metal-to-metal contact to occur.
Synerlec's tough film strength not only makes it more difficult for asperitites to breach the oil film, but it actually smooths bearing surfaces that do. Instead of becoming rougher, Royal Purple's Synerlec® additive technology gently micro-polishes these asperities, creating smoother surfaces, which then are easily separated by Royal Purple's tough oil film.
Damaged bearings experiencing high vibrations can run normally for greatly extended periods of time simply by changing to Royal Purple's oils with Synerlec®.

I've been hanging out with a bunch of guys that are in a car team... it's mostly domestic. One person has a WS6 and is running "Royal Purple." It's supposedly better than synthetic oil and he agrees. He said, and I qoute, "you can actually feel the difference, it feels stronger." It's a little expensive, at least where I am, which is in California. $5 a quart to be specific (I think?). I'm going to try it. He's getting me a new oil filter and $50 worth of Royal Purple. If you want to know how it runs/feels, personal message me and I'll get back to you. Note: I'm putting it in on Saturday, so I'll be able to get back to you later that night.

I did an Amsoil test.. found no gain either.. most of the tests they (oil companies) show are syn vs dino oil.. but syn vs syn there is no reason for it..
good luck!

For all of your oil related questions, there is one answer...
www.bobistheoilguy.com
Fram filters have lass filter element and have a design that can allow oil to bypass the filter. Therefore making the filter worthless.
AC Delco PF59 I think.
And Royal Purple IS synthetic.
Use 5W30 up North. You can use 10W30 where it doesn't freeze outside. But you could use 5W30 everywhere.

This is a good, ongoing study using a 2002 Z28.

4 quarts of 10w 30 Mobile 1 pure syn,.....and 1 quart additive. I tried using the 10w 30 by itself and my low oil light would come on with about 2000-2500 miles on the oil. But I was going to the track just about every weekend making a 3-5 passes and that was killing the life of the oil! Since using the additive no low oil light! Also my intrest in the track has slowed down.
10w30 in Winter
10w40 in Summer (it get 105-110 friggin degrees here in the summer months !!)
Fram is garbage
Purolator and GM are the best cheap filters you can buy. I've heard Wix is very good too and similarly priced.
