What are LS1's supposed to weigh?

well, went with a buddy of mine to get our cars weighed in, my mustang tipped the scales @ 3300 with me in it(weighed 3320 last time, but got aluminum heads now and had about 1/3 of tank this time vs. about 1 gal last time). Anyhoo, my friends LS1 with him in it weighed in at a whopping 3800!! that was with a full tank of gas, normal racing weight is prolly closer to 3720 or so with less gas. his name on the board is RedBeast93Z. this is his sig:

99 trans am M6, Prokit, APHR, Weld in relocation brackets, LG motorsports front and rear sway bars with bushings, STB, Powerder coated black konig monsoon rims (17 x 9.5), SCC ram air hood, MTI clear lid, Mass air flow ends, ported throttle body, B&B catback exhaust with premium tips, Pro 5.0 shifter with lou's short stick, weld in subframe connectors

anyhoo, that thing is a pig!!

BTW weight distribution for his car was 54% up front, 46% out back.

That seems high. How much does he weigh himself? If he's 300lbs, that could explain it.

weld in relo brackets added weight
bigger sway bars added weight
STB added weight
subframe connectors added weight
bigger wheels and tires added weight

Why would it be heavy?

I used to have a '98 1LE Z28 (stripper car). Bone stock it weighed 3360 on the NHRA scales at Texas Motorplex (Ennis).

My 2001 Trans Am weighed 3490 on the same scales bone stock.

3490 is with you out of the car? if so then the weight of my friends car seems about right.

depending on options and mods thats about right..

my factory stripped car weighs 3470 with a full tank of gas. I only race with full tanks of gas. Doesnt make sense not to..

Figure 120lbs (15gal*8lbs per gal) would give my car 3350 with spare and all just hardly any gas...

I still have T-tops though.. without T-tops I can see an Fbod tipping the scales at 3200...
