Hi. I'm bored of my durango and am looking to get something fast/more fun to drive. Any suggestions for when i'm shopping around? I'm really inexperienced in looking around at these types of cars.

Im 19, and got a '99 Camaro SS ..... and get a ton of looks (if youre into that) does get to be a little bit too much.... find myself having to avoid a$$holes on the road that like to cut you off and want to race you every other stop light.... but all I do is look the other way, and pretend that they arent there (not a street racer) ... both are great looking cars ... I wouldnt of minded a Dark Blue Metallic Camaro Z28 with Ground effects

OK I GOT MY 98 Z28 WHEN I WAS 17 AND LET ME TELL YOU ITS AWESOME. I LOVE IT. AND I DON'T GE AS MANY RACES A WHAT WAS SAID ABOVE. THE IMPORTS KNOW BETTER BECAUSE I SOUND SCARY AND THE OLD PEOPLE IN THE AMERICAN CARS HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO. YOU CAN GET GREAT DEAL ON A 98. WHO WOULDA THUNK THAT I'D BE 18 WITH CAR OF LESS THAN 93(BRIGHT PURPLE METALIC) WITH 300+ HP I LOVE IT...JUST GET ANY LS1 IN YOUR BUDGET

If you can afford it, go for a 01, or 02, they make a little bit more power.

 

I bought my 98 z28 before I turned 17 I'm 18 and I love the car. The imports stay away after a few races and it feels great to pull into a hangout and look and see everyone staring and talking about your car. I love my car everyone in the surrounding towns knows me as the kid with the cowl hood on the z28. Personally, I love just goin down the highway cruisin, and the car def has ***** to back talk up bottom line i couldn't b any happier the only thing that would make me happier is more mods get a Z28 or SS believe me you won't regret it if your lookin for a car that looks good with an engine 2 back it up

 

get what you can afford.
if you can find a vette/SS/ws6/firehawk, go for it, but you will find lower prices on a z28, or trans am.

insurance is gonna kill you...for the obvious reason you mentioned above (age) but price it out, and if you can swing a ls1, then go for it...but i will warn you...the speed gets addicting and you will wanna start putting mods on it...and thats where it will really start hitting the wallet!

if money isnt an issue, i would say get a 2001 or 2002 fbody...newer, supposely a bit faster (all relative) and will have lower miles for the most part. if money is an issue, then you will wanna stick around a 98 or 99 fbody.

Im 19 and have my Black 2000 slp tuned ss, Wings west body kit, commando wing, rksport solar wing, Corbeau A4 seats, corbeau harness's, K&n filter system, slp loud mouth exhaust, slp y-pipe, hooker headers, ls6 intake manifold, Nitto nt555r's, and Built tranny and lots of zaino. And just beat a rt/10 viper, and stick with a gts final edition, I get tons of looks and am known for the car, depending on where you live get what know one has. Possibly a trans am ws6? or maybe a SS or a Z28

 

im 17 with a 02 vert WS6. Every light there is a race it seems around here O_o. i walk into the gas station and 50 people ask me if i wanna run... and out of the 50, 49 of them aren't worth my time. I am happy wit my car, but i kinda wish i waited for that perfect SS (6 speed, pewter vert, w/ dark leather).

get what u can afford, and what u know u will like =)

 

i had little money so i got a used '98 z28

it had 19,700 miles and i re-financed it three times b4 getting it at 5% at a federal credit union.
put down a big downpayment. your monthly payments will be lower.

i wish it were a '02, but it looks like a '02 and the payments are 227/month

now i can still afford to eat 3 times/day

I got my '98 SLP modded SS when I was 20 (last summer). It had 14K on the clock and I got it for 16.5K....I had an LT1 before that. Both are great cars....but ya can;t deny the power and looks ya get in an LS1 SS...especially with the Navy Blue Metallic and the chrome ZR1's

 

I also hate when people do that. The whole time i've had the car, i've only raced twice. The first was against a Z and I ended up loosing due to me not paying attention to the light. (I went about 70 or so on a 50) The second time was against a Mach 1 only because I wanted to see how they would do against a LS1. (I ended up winning by about two and a half car lengths. Went up to a little above 90 in a 60).
