What Is Faster
Whichever car has the better driver!
Seriously, there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between Camaros/Firebirds, Z28s/Trans-Ams, SSs/WS6s from pretty much 1993 to 2002
(only a few subtle differences here or there).
From '98 - '02, the V8 F-bodies all got the 5.7L LS1 V8, and either the 4L60E 4-speed automatic (often referred to as A4) or the Borg-Warner T-56 6-speed (aka: M6). The SS and WS6 are the "upgraded" versions of either Z28s or T/As, with most of those upgrades being to the suspension (and exhaust, which is worth maybe ~10 HP, give or take).
In terms of transmissions, I think the factory 6-speed might take a little more abuse than the auto, but then the rear end will take more abuse from a 6-speed than it will from the auto!
Hope that helps

well i agree with you guys for the most part. an m6 will take more abuse than an a4 however the rest of the car wont. i've heard of atleast a dozen people that have dropped their rearend on completely stock cars which is mostly because with an auto the tc locks up at a somewhat low rpm (somehwhere around 2000 rpm) an with a stick you can dump the clutch at 5000rpm if you want to which is how alot of people ruin their rearends. as far as which is faster an automatic or stick, well i've taken down three ls1 sticks at the track and two were ramair equipped, so unless you are perfect at shifting a stick every single time you might get beat a few times by the same car with an auto, but typically a stick has the ability to be a tenth or two quicker.
