Thumbs up 99 T/A WS6 Manuel!!!

Here i come!!! I am sure it will be fine! I tow about 6 miles to the lake. That will be about 3 times a month for about 5 mounths out of the year. (Not very much) i think running the car at the track with some stickes is alot harder on it. One more thing do these cars have a weak link?? (Motor-head gaskets---------,trans,----??)How many miles can you get out of a stock T/A?? 150,000-200,00??
Thankyou guys!! Skydog

Of course, the more mods you do to the engine, the more power and the more stress on the drive train. A stock LS1 properly maintained and not too abused should last over well 200,000 IMHO. The tranny may not last more than 100,000 miles if abused and not maintained. The rear depends a lot on how it's treated. Continuous pounding from spending every weekend at the track with sticky tires, and you're gonna be upgrading to a 12 bolt in a hurry. I don't see the 10 bolt as a weak link really. But it is probably gonna be the first thing to give problems when abused.

If there is a weak link, it has to be the power window motors. Piston slap is annoying but it doesn't seem to casue any longevity problems. Squeeks and rattles are to be expected. Still, you can't get this kind of bang for your buck any where else.

I have pulled an autox trailer with my T/A. Even though it only weights about 600 pounds, you can't tell its back there.

Get a load leveler and you should have no friggin problems. If you go stick you may consider a gear change in back, I dont believe for a second its going to kill the clutch unless YOU kill the clutch.

I used to tow my 2100 lb boat with my 84 Camaro with the 2.8 V6 and auto od trans and never had a problem on the road or at the ramp.It had to really work to get the boat out but it did it and I had no other options at the time.If the ramp is wet and slick my friends awd suv has problems and so will you,but that was tidal salt water,if you pull the boat out at high tide that takes care of that problem, too.Hope this helps.Next to cars it boating and fishing !!!

You must have some good launch ramps in those lakes there. I usually have to submerge a Suburban to get the American Skier off the trailer. I sho wouldnt do that to my car.

Good luck
My dad and I tow our boat with a 97 cummins dodge, over 40K miles on the clutch, no problems at all...just be careful when you are pulling out of the launch ramp not to feed it to much throttle and burn the clutch. Are you going to primarily pull on flat ground or do you have to deal with some terrain (ie hills). When it comes to towing there isn't anything like being able to choose your own shift points or hold on to a gear longer for going up a hill. Especially since you won't be pulling that much weight, if it was much heavier than that, I would say, get a truck, but considering that 1500 lbs with trailer isn't that much (especially as far as tounge weight) choose which tranny you want.

Cool

Your dad's Cummins Dodge is an exception. I've heard those trucks have so much torque that most of the time all you need to do is let out the clutch to get a heavy load rolling.
