V6 Suspension/Brakes VS V8 Suspension/Brakes

This may not be the right place to ask this but I figure its a good place to start....I am thinking about building a car for doing roadracing....just for fun local slalom stuff....I read somewhere that V6 cars with performance package option have same brakes/suspension as their V8 brothers......now I have a hard time believing this but if someone could tell me or point me the right direction I would appreciate it....If i can verify this then i can of course pickup a V6 cheaper.....bolton same suspension/wheels/tires upgrades......save a little weight......on a slalom course ill never utilize 6 gears......plus, by saving a little cash I can talk my wife into keeping my 87gta for drag/street racing.....
Thanks!

Cool

V6 and V8 parts are exactly the same with 2 exceptions that I know of.The swaybars (I think the rear is the same and the front is different) and the springs (different spring rates for different weight cars).Brakes and everything else that I know of is the same.

that would be nice.....i can pickup v6 for about 1/3 less than v8 car....im gonna mod the whole suspension anyways....i just didnt want to mess with brakes right away.....i figure w/gear and suspension mods car should be alot fo fun on street/slalom.....im hoping a few others can backup your information.....
thanks,
john

Oops,I forgot to mention that the brakes are the same on the '98 and up.I think before that the V6's had rear drums unless you got the Y87 package.

i am pretty much focusing on 98-up because my understanding is gm upgraded brakes in 98....also, please correct me if im wrong, but i believe that front brakes are dual piston on v8 cars....so if v6 are same as v8 then they should be dual piston also.....my thought is with a little less weight and same brakes as v8 car then brake stopping power should be slightly better.....
