Using Heater hose to quiet ypipe/header hitting

Ive heard that the LS1 guys use heater hose to quiet a rattle they get when the y-pipe hits the body of the car.
Well after my long tube install my passeger side long tuble is only 2 centimeters away from my A arm. Under somewhat of hard acceleration when the engine twists its self to the right and down the header goes right and down smacking the A arm.

I have two options.. I could grind some metal off the A arm and form a small groove so the header doesnt smack it or I can put heater hose inbetween the header and A arm..

Just wanted some input from the LS1 guys who've used heater hose to quiet there problems.

Most of us using the heater hose use it to fix the y-pipe banging on the floorboard. If your headers are too close to the K-member, then the most common fix for that problem is to grind the K-member down a little...I guess you could try heater hose 1st though.

Are you sure it's not just hitting the floorboard? I've never heard of a problem with clearance with the a-arms, what kind of lts are you running?

When I had MAC headers the Y-pipe was banging the floor board on hard acceleration. I had the shop bend the Y-pipe down a little bit and that completely took care of the banging. That might be an option. If the headers are hitting the A-arm, you can grind it down, or you can buy after market stuff from BMR. That would be pricey, but most people have more money than I do

Which part of the Y pipe hits the floor board exactly? After they come together or before on the passenger side header connection... ?? Ill check there too then.
I have Jet hot long tubes. There looks like a dents on one of the tubes (passenger side) thats hitting the A arm. It could have happened on the install of the headers though.

But heater hose is a great mod for ridding your car of exhaust rattles then?

The Y-Pipe banging usually happen right next to the 2nd fitting on the driver side. There's bracing for the floorboard along with a shield for the fuel lines that hangs a little lower than the rest of the floor board, and that's where the banging usually happens. Yes, heater hose is a good fix AFTER you've loosened the header, placed a 1" block of wood at that spot and then re-tighten everything. Remove the wood and you should have about .75" of clearance and then put the heater hose there just to make sure.

Good luck!
