Re: used low mileage ls1 price range

The main power difference is in the heads. LS1 heads flow stock roughly what LT1 heads flow ported. If you want to level the playing field you'll get some SFR 220 LT4 heads and port the living hell out of them. You can get 310-320 CFM from them and have over 600HP worth of potential. I'm going that way when I get the chance to buy some for a decent price. I'd take an LT1 car over an LS1 car anyday if I was building a toy, but the LS1 is more streetable out of the box. If you wanna really go nuts you can look into getting some 18 degree heads and work them for an LT4 intake and wipe the floor with almost ANY LS1 car. 350cfm out of a set of heads is just incredible. Just depends on how much $$$ you're willing to spend.

LS1 and LS6 both have 6 bolt mains and LT1s have 4 bolt mains. And as for wanting to put in an LS1 in place of your LT1, I would say just build your LT1 up. It would be so much easier and not cost near as much as trying to put an LS1 in.

Ok, you can get 320cfm out of lt4 afr220s, but how much cfm can you get out of the best heads available for the ls1 on the market.

And as for that 600+hp mark....Did you mean with blower and stroker?

Actualt Boths trans offered in the LT1 will bolt up to a LS1 just one bolt will not be able to be use in the bell housing. The dash board does not need to be replaced it will work fine. And if the motor sat back more it whould have nothing to do witht he dash board it whould it the firewall...

spend much much less money by building your LT1 instead of swapping to an LS1 and spank LS1's around all day long
Beter off selling your car and buying a LS1 nicer front, beter looking dash, its gona take alot of moding ina lt1 to keep up with a stock LS1 let alone a Sleeved and stroked LS1. LT1s are the past yea there a good motor but the LS1 is where its at. Beter Flowing heads, beter oiling system, Lighter block,....No crapy opti to deal with

What is your point? he could either buy a new ls1 for 3k or fix his lt1 up it wasnt about stock for stock was it? besides, put the equivalent on each engine and they are basically equal in the amount of power they can make ive seen people with lt1's heads/cam making 400rwhp and the same amount of people with ls1's doing the same

pretty weak heads and cam ls1 only making 400wrhp....theres quite a few Cam only ls1 making close to 450wrhp.....anyways go LS1 it has alot more room for growth down the road

not trying to make an enemy out of you or anything but a bunch of my friends have ls1's and ive seen enough of them to know that a 450rwhp cam only ls1 is pretty rare and im sure hardly streetable. you are talking about alot of lift and alot of duration concidering its even happened. hit me up on AIM and lets talk about this on there instead of this on going ls1 vs lt1 arguement on the forums my screen name is in my profile

So there are no heads that will fit an LT1 that will put out 345cfm?

*LOL*...Well it's nice to see the ole LS1 vs LT1 debate doesn't turn into a flame war EVERY time!...hahaha...

As far as the problem earlier, ALL LS1/LS6s have 6-bolt mains...Corvette LT1s and all LT4s have 4-bolt mains...F-Body LT1s have 2-bolt mains...If an engine rebuild is in the works I would imagine having your 2-bolt LT1 splayed to a 4-Bolt isn't that much more expensive for a little extra security...Although I'm not 100% sure on that point...
