upgrading a 2000 z28 LS1

I resently bought a Z28 2000 camaro stock. I plan on spending $4000 on the car to increase my 1/4 mile. SO i was wondering what part I should change to get the greatest incresase. I am asking for the part and best place to buy it if you can.
I already know that I need to change my FIBK but I was wondering if anyone knows the company that sell the best product and at what price.

First off will you be doing the labor yourself? Or paying someone? Here is a quick run down of parts and prices that we usally suggest/do to customers first.

Headers/Y-Pipe/ Catback. $800-$1500
Air Box Lid. Most are around $90-$100
If your car is any automatic stall converter and trans cooler $800-$1200
If its a 6 speed, shifter and clutch $600-$1000
Underdrive pulley system $200
160 stat and computer tune. $200-$300 for full tune

Now if your going to be paying somebody for install your looking at around the whole $4000 there. If you are doing it yourself also look into a cam/heads. Those minor bolt ons should get you into the 12's and if you go heads cam easily low 12's high 11's with good streetability. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions....

Do all of your basic bolt ons first. I suggest long tubes first with a good catback. Then I would go with internals last. Be saving up for labor to unless you plan to do it yourself.

am i the only one who's lost??

as stated above, the basic mods are gonna yeild the best result to start with.

easier air in:

SSRA, lid, intake manifold (ls6)

easier exhaust out:

headers (longtubes or mids), catback

power to the ground:

auto - torque converter and trans cooler, 3.73 gears, lower control arms
manual - shifter, 3.73 or 4.10 gears (depending on your highway useage), lower control arms

and for either...good tires. either drag radials or good street tires

and you shouldn't forget the smaller things like a lower thermostat, shift light for a manual, retune the computer

Do not ignore these 2 commonly overlooked mods.

Increase your quarter mile? Funny, most guys are looking to decrease theirs.

Four thousand and you're done?

12-bolt: $2500
Sticky Tires: $400
LCAs w/ relocation brackets, adjustable PHB, SFCs: $500
Converter or shifter/clutch: $800

Those mods ought to shave at least half a second off your times, maybe more. Plus, if you plan on spending more later, your car won't break.

Depends if you have an A4 ro M6 and how you launch ... if you preload an A4 you can get can get a lot of life out of a 10 bolt ... 600 launches on mine.

I've seen bolt on M6s running mid 12s last for 400 to 500 launches.

I just went 12 bolt last year and sold my 10 bolt still in great shape. Around the same 600 launches on mine too and all low 1.6 to high 1.5s the last year.

So drag radials gave the 10-bolt no wear and tear whatsoever?

I'm going to be buying a set and LCAs soon, and was worrying about possibly grenading my rear at the track, but it seems like they last a little longer behind the A4.
