Upgrades

I have a 99 SS camaro, and im wanting to do some upgrades. Now I have a exhaust and the airbox lid, but i want more power. Now ive puzzled at getting a differnt MAF, LS6 manifold, or longtube headers(but i dont believe they will pass CA admission standards). Can someone help to lead me in the right direction.

MAF = not needed..

Get an LS6 intake.. NICE GAINS!!

If you have to do emissions, 'll wait for someone that lives in CA to post up about emissions.

Under Drive Pulleys
Ported and Polished Throttle body
Free mods
susp mods.. They'll hapl get the power to the ground easier. = LCA's for firsts.

No LT's...any shorty or mid length header with a C.A.R.B. EO number will work. Look into SLP, MAC, Edlebrock, RK Sport/Arizona Speed and Marine, Pacesetter, JBA.

LS6 intake is a good mod as said above. Also suspension will net you good results as noted. Also a good set of midlength headers would be your only options due to emissions....

Depends on if you are willing to be "illegal" or not...as far as headers go. Shorties or mid-lengths are a waste compared to the gains LT's will get you. (IMO)

Is this an M6 car? or Auto?

Do you have an upper limit or set budget?

shorties are the only headers that are legal in CA. mids are not, they still move the cats.

shorties are better than your stock manifolds, but not by much. so its up to you if you want to spend $400 for 5-10hp.

the LS6 intake is not legal either technically, since it removes the EGR. however SLP sells the LS6 intake WITH the EGR provisions, its just more $$. but that intake is proven 8-12hp gains.

ported TB should add a few more ponies, for minimal cost and no issues with emissions.

same with the underdrive pulley.

if its an auto, the single greatest thing you could do would be a higher stall converter and tranny cooler, and gears if you can afford it.

+1 on the stall converter, cooler, and gears.

If you really want to stay legal, then I wouldn't do any thing to it...keep it stock, save your money and buy a supercharger kit. Those are 50 state legal and are developed for stock cars. That way you will have minimal tuning issues (injectors, etc...,)

You will get good gains in power (like 80 to 100) and still be legal.

My $.02

If I had to stay "emissions legal", I'd probably go with a blower or nitrous.

Trying to make NA horsepower is a joke with an emissions legal car.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. If I where to "redo" my firehawk all over, I would of gone that route instead of the N/A route that I did.

Not that I'm dissatisfied with my N/A setup...It rocks! But it is a hassle every couple of years...AND having to use my "inside muffler" around the PO-PO

Hehe

save your money....buy some suspension parts, a shifter and other things to make the car more enjoyable...but still totally emissions legal.
