am i missing something for my crank

so i have a lq9 block and the crank snout had a notch in it and my new eagle crank does too but i am not sure how to bolt my ls6 timing chain on since theres nothing, if you understand what i'm saying, i can take a pic.

my buddys ls1 when i did his cam had a positive notch so the crank sproket slid right onto it

i thought maybe i need a diff timing chain since i have a double roller for a ls1 but im not sure

Yep there's a key that goes into the notch (keyway) to locate the timing gear.
