Re: True duals improved my 1/4 time!

I look forward to to comparison.

I'm with ya! Velocity is where its at, but there is a happy area you have to find. Too small and you have too much back pressure too large and not enough velocity. You know all this anyway, but incase any noobs are reading....

Off the subject, but does the Vinci/Crane tuner have SES code deleting abilities? I seem to remember reading that it did, but can't find where I read that. I've been eyeing them lately. I'd do a dyno tune, but I'm far from complete with mods and would like to not run so rich.

Re: True duals improved my 1/4 time!

it can 'clear' codes. not delete them from the programming. now, what it does do, is set the parameters so far, the code should not evertrip the SES light. i have verified that when i let a friend borrow mine while at the track. his car had no egr, no cats, and no air. once he cleared the codes, they never came back. his car was a m6. he picked up .5 at two different tracks mind you. so, he bought one.

also, i just used it to tune the wife's car. all bolt ons + vhp heads with stock cam. picked up 17 rwhp peak. here's the graph.

Not to be a smart ****.
but I never bought the car with mileage in mind, I dont even pay much attention to the price of gas,... It's kinda like butt wipe.... no matter what they charge, we still gotta have it,.
I havent been on any trips yet to check mileage, I was getting 26 on the highway before. best tank was 365,miles. next weekend I'll be taking a four trip one way, we'll see then,
But around town, I'm always hitting the gas, I Love the sound she makes now.

the less the engine has to work to do it's job, the less fuel it uses. but i'm not worried about fuel economy either.

the only way you could possibly loose gas mileage is if you arn't burning all the gas in the cylinder, and it's just spewing out the exhaust. Now if you had bad spark plugs or bad valves, yeah, you'd miss mileage.

Re: True duals improved my 1/4 time!

now here's something that people have been waiting for. a test comparing two after market catbacks. on the wife's 99 formula, i took the borla w/small open plate off and installed the bassani tru-dual exhaust. both dynos were untuned as well. a straight comparison between the two and how the motor reacts to them.

first graph actual. second graph SAE.

Great data mrr!

I always thought a 3" single was small for the LS1. So much for the GMMG being so great, especially for the price.

Coo, let me know how those results are. I'm just wondering because I'm considering getting this kind of exhaust set-up, but I'm not going to if its going to hurt my gas milage. My friend got an aftermarket exhaust on his Toyota and said it hurt his fuel milage quite a bit (like 30-40 miles a tank) even though it was less restrictive than what he had on there. I know most people here don't care about fuel efficiency, but I do.

Where can you get this bassani exhaust system at? I searched the site but it shows no products for f-bodies

i was wondering if we could but an H pipe on and get the same effect? Whats the difference between X and H pipes? ( i know one looks like an X and one looks like and H)

Tone mostly, the X does usually dyno a little better.

x give more power

sound difference is a matter of opinion. They're both close. Muffler choice will make a larger impact.
