traction control trouble
traction control trouble
hi, im not familiar with traction control.. i dont have it on mine.. but this girl i know is havin trouble with hers.... while she is driving normaly(crusing, not accelerating or braking), the tcs light will come on and activate the rear abs, i want to know what part is malfunctioning or what part is maybe loose? and how would i disconnect it all together?
Maybe she needs it!
Bald tires and a lead foot will set it off.
If not, get a 'reverse logic' module to set the default for the ASR as "off" instead of "on" when you start the car. That way it will aways be off unless she turns it on.
Good luck

Edit: Are all of her tires the same diameter? The system measures revolutions of the tires very precisely, if you use tires that are different sizes (height wise), it will confuse the ASR and ABS.

nooo you didnt get what i mean... when just driving down the road... not accelerating nor braking it will activate.. causing the car to brake and vibrate(abs) ... happens maybe once a week
I had a wheel sensor go out on my '95Z. There is a sensor on each wheel, make sure the wires to them are pluged in good and not corroded. Could be that. Are wheels all the same diameter like stated before, with proper air pressure? Later>>>>>>
You don't have to be accelerating for the system to operate.
You just have to be moving while giving it any amount of throttle.
That's why I suggested worn tires. A little patch of dirt in the road (oil, water, etc...) and worn tires will do it without any aggressive driving.
Could be a loose or corroded sensor connector too I suppose. If one sensor gives a little 'blip' to the rest of the system it would be considered loss of traction most likely.
Good luck

That sounds a little bit dangerous if it is happening when she doesnn't want it to. I would have one look at it.
Mine when out about a year ago, and hasn't come on since. I don't care, because I can still drive with out it. I just ignore the 2 lights on the dash.
