Torque Converter On Everyday Car?
Torque Converter On Everyday Car?
I drive my Z on dry nice days only, or at least I try too. Is it OK to put a Torque Converter on it say 2400 stall? Or am I just gonna end up running straight up everyone's *** at stop lights? 1/4 of the time I drive it is to and from the track.
Anyone? Anyone?

2400, that's nothing...you shouldn't have any drivability issues with that. My friend had no complaints with his 3500 (in a DD '95 Z).
Personally, I'd go with a little higher stall than a 2400, say 2800...or even a little more.

If your going to spend the money invest in something higher than 2400. 2800 should be bare minimum, 3200 is verry good. Lots of guys buy low, thinking that they dont want to screw up their driveability, but later regret not going with a higher stall. With a 3200 youll be fine around town. You should barely notice a difference.
i agree go with a higher stall. i am going to be running a 3200 stall and expect no problems.
i had a stall in my old car and had no problems. as long as it is lockup, u will have next to no drivability problems

I would go with a 3200-3600 stall. I had a 3200 up untill a couple months ago and thought it was great. Got me into the 11`s no problem and had great local street manners. Plus once you get used to the converter you buy most people wish they had gottten a higher stall. I wanted alittle more converter but ended up with alot more.

I also agree with higher. Actually, a 3200 or higher. Many people I've talked to think even the 2800 is too small - they get used to it really quick. As for me, I'll probly put a 3200 or 3600 in. By the time I can afford the insurance on my car I'll be old enough for a big break in premiums, plus I'll probly still have my 92 as a DD
