Top Speed

Same regardless of Z28 / SS / T/A / WS6. It's a factory set speed limiter, based on being equipped with Z-rated tires. You can remove the speed limiter with a programmer, and likely an LS1 would pull beyond ~165 mph and go faster overall than an LT1 powered car, but the real key is that the LS1 car can get to top speed a lot faster due to having more power.

Somebody told me the max MPH was limited to 159 by the computer setting on a LS1 powered car with Z-Rated tires? 162 works for me though. By the way what is the max mph for a 98 Mustang GT that hasn't been modded...? Just curious, Fred

are you sure there's a mph limiter?
i know lt1's have an RPM limiter which causes the top speed to be around like 160 or somethin (check the lt1 tech, huge thread on it)
i would think they have no speed limiter like the lt1's (well, 255 or whatever which is unreachable anyways) but they would have an rpm limiter
anyone know for sure?

I know for sure with the stock computer settings my 94 Z28 had a 149 mph max programmed in from the factory. It wasn't until I purchased a HPP+ that I was able to reprogram the computer at that unreachable 255 mph.
