no. If you want a larger filter then get a Mobil 1 M1-206 it's a little longer than the stock one.

Okay, thanks. I want to put a high volume pump on and I would feel a little better with something big on there.. Why in the world did they go to a smaller filter???????

i use the truck filter. supposedly it carries an extra half quart or something. had no problems, although it does hang an inch or so below the oil pan. still, wountle have to hit something extreme to damage the filter.

I used the bigger 2006 K&N filter. The stock one looks so tiny. What I dont' really understand is I used the big filter on my LT1 too and its still twice the size of the big filter onthe LS1..the filter for the LT1 is HUGE by K&N.

Re: tinkerbell oil filter makes me nervous...

Given two choices, I would rather just find a bigger filter. Its too tight in there to try to dig up space for more stuff, although I am sure one can find some room fo rthe relocated filter.

A bigger filter has more filter area to catch more junk per pass

Nothing. People don't like the looks of it next to a Gen1 filter. Go pull one for a Honda or a Nissan. This is not meant to restart the age old debate, but in 3000 miles, the filters will not clog unless you are direct injecting dirt....

I like the idea of having a bigger filter which helps reduce the preaasure area of the filter media itself.

Maybe, but I still don't buy it. 3k miles on stock filters has gotten me to 150k plus on my cars. I have never had a lubrication failure, knock on wood.

I agree, and I am sure GM tests all this stuff extensively anyway. I use the AC filter, and never had an issue.
