Ticking from Transmission?
Ticking from Transmission?
I hear a ticking sound that gets faster as the engine speed increases. Its not loud at all, but I can hear it when I bend down and listen by the transmission, I really don't hear it in the engine compartment. Please tell me it isn't piston slap...

Manual tranny's don't have dipsticks. They have a fill hole and a drain hole. To check look on the left side of the T-56 in the center about, take out the plug and stick your finger in it. If you get some fluid on it then its full, if not add some. Oh BTW why not change it while your at it?
Does the noise sound like a "tink"?
My car tinks sometimes when I put it in reverse and when I'm taking off from a stop. The trans. guy says that when GM makes and welds the alum. shafts, sometimes some alum. shavings get trapped on the inside of the driveshaft forever. He says he sees it sometimes and it's nothing to worry about.
That might be what you're hearing.
