thermostat questions

installing a powerstat 160 degree on my 02 trans am, it came with an o-ring gasket but where is the best place to put the gasket sealant on the actual thermostat or on the block and how much should i use. Also should i use my programmer to calibrate it for the thermostat or can i still leave the tune off till i want to use it?

Re: thermostat questions

I just put a small amount of plumber's stem grease on the o ring on the tstat to make sure it seated properly while bolting it up - you can lower the fan temps whenever you want, it'll help in stop and go traffic.
