thermostat gauge not working

hey my thermostat gauge was not working this morning. i know it's bite *** cold out, but it wouldn't move.

it's not the thermostat becuase i drove about 30 highway miles-no overheating. Gauge just wont work.

Any thoughts?

I think that from 98-02 the temp gauge is a dummy gauge and only works when the car starts to overheat. My temp gauge usully sits in the middle from time of start up(climbs to 210 within 5 minutes) till off. wether its hot or cold it sits in the middle around 210. Hope that helps some.

I'd start with the obvious and make sure the sending unit just didn't become disconneted somehow.

If that's not it, I'd replace the sending unit.

If you have a good relationship with your dealer, I'd take it to them to check out. They checked my car out and because they couldn't find a porblem, they didn't charge me.
I bought a oil sending unit before cause my oil guage was funky, and there ended up being nothing wrong with the guage, just operator error. I hated looking stupid when I had to return the oil sending unit.
